How long will my sore throat go on for?

Well, I got a cold at first and tht wasn't so bad. But yesterday I started to lose my voice, it was just a little croaky. But tidy my throat stings and my voice has really gone and I can only whisper, Ive got school and i want to go because my friend is leaving soon. So please help me?!?! X
